Can I employ my own private inspector?
Yes. You’re welcome to engage an independent/private building inspector at any stage. Before you do, here are a few things to keep in mind to help avoid delays or extra costs:
- You already have a Building Surveyor involved. Your Building Surveyor is a registered professional responsible for issuing permits and certificates, and completing mandatory stage inspections to confirm the build meets legal and compliance requirements.
- Private inspections need to fit the build schedule. If you arrange a private inspection, we’ll need your inspector’s written report provided within 48 hours of the inspection. If reports are delayed, it can affect the next scheduled trades and your build may be placed on hold while we review and respond.
If you plan to engage a private inspector, let your CRC or Site Supervisor know early so site access can be coordinated safely and with minimal disruption.
